Sunday July Morning in the Mountains

Another Sunday has arrived.  It seems the weeks are flying by and I have to ask myself what day it is every morning that I awake.  This morning started off with a flurry.  Chris was off early to show a large property and I stepped outside to wave good bye and was met with the most beautiful, peaceful morning.  The air was warm and still and the birds were singing and somewhere our chipmunk family was making a racket.

You have to treasure these moments.  It seems that they are squeezed in between the demands of work and daily concerns.  Taking time to acknowledge our surroundings does refresh and illuminate the soul.  I am so lucky to live where I live!

Real estate has suddenly turned a corner and we are very busy.  There has been an uptick of showings and interest and it is great to be running from place to place.  I think that the Madison River clearing has brought everyone out.  I do hear the fishing is good!

Another different trend this year is the fact that I am still getting new listings!  Usually, the new listing season is January through May.  But I have two new listings this week!  More on those later.  I am also seeing price reductions as sellers are trying to make their property stand out and sell.  It is a good time to be a buyer.

I am off to photograph 20 acres near the Jack Creek drainage and bordering a large ranch....should be an amazing view!

Fisherman Welcome Gauge on Madison River

Madison River anglers have another great tool at their disposal with the installation of the gauge at Varney Bridge .  It should be helpful in planning when and where to fish on the Madison River.  It adds to data being collected at the Madison Dam and the Kirby Ranch.

The gauge will measure water flow and temperature.  To obtain  the current data go to mt.water.usgs.gov .

Ennis’ Unconventional Doc Losee

A couple weeks ago there was a great article in the Bozeman Chronicle about a local legend.  Doc Losee pioneered a method of ACL knee surgery that is the common used procedure now.

This article in the Chronicle is a good read if you are interested in seeing some of the local color and history of the folks who have fallen in love with Ennis and have made it their home.

Ennis Resort Tax Proposal Fails

Yesterday was the day for Ennis, MT residents to get out and vote on the proposal for a resort tax in the city limits.  The measure was defeated in a vote of 300 against and 75 for.  Voter participation is limited to residents who live within the city limits.  Business owners who live outside the city limits had no say in the vote.

Read more about it in the report from Greg Lemon of the Madisonian.

Trip to Butte Montana

Great Pasta Selection
My birthday wish just came true last week!

Chris asked me what I would like to do for my birthday back in November (BTW) and I said I really wanted to to go to the Front Street Market in Butte, MT.    I kind of forgot about my birthday wish, but we needed to run to Butte last Friday and my wish came true!

We ate lunch in the deli which has a very limited menu that is always delicious.  Friday's Specials were Seafood Bisque and Turkey Sandwiches.  I skipped the sandwich and had a bowl of the bisque which was rich and creamy with giant, tender chunks of crabmeat.  MMMMmmm.
While waiting for the food to arrive, we did a little shopping.  There is so much to look at from dried goods, preserved goods, canned condiments, frozen treats, imported cheeses and sausages, and every kind of sauce you can imagine.
Perusing the beer cooler

After enjoying our delicious lunch, the owner Mark Yakawich rang up our purchases, provided us with entertaining conversation AND carried the groceries out to my car.  It doesn't get any better!!

My favorite things at the Front Street Market are the Gorgonzola Cheese Dip with Sesame Bread Sticks, the homemade raviollis in the freezer section and the various Front Street Market canned goods.  Let me just say that the cheese dip should have a warning label.  It is extremely addictive and may start arguments among family members about who is hogging the cheese dip.

In addition to the food, they have a great wine and beer selection too.

Front Street Market is a great place to stop when you are in Butte!
