Traffic Jam ~ Montana Style

I am so spoiled living in rural south western Montana. I can pretty much get in the car and go where I need to go without delay. So, even if I am running late....I can usually get there. Friday, was a different story.

It was the most gorgeous day, teasing us that it really was the first day of spring. My dog, Daisy, had a vet appointment in Belgrade and we were running a little behind schedule. In other words, we were LATE!

There was nothing to do but get in the car and drive like Andretti. There were hints that something may be amiss ahead as we veiwed the leftover evidence of cows (cow pies) on the highway, but we kept our thoughts optimistic about the fact that the cattle drive could have happened earlier in the day. We were doing well, gaining time, soaking in the sunshine and appreciating the views. But, as we rounded the corner, our progress was stalled.

I think Daisy was secretly happy. After all, why would a dog of such cattle herding breeding pass on the opportunity to bark at a few cows! What fun.

So, we took advantage of the unexpected time that we had added to our trip and our hectic day and took a few pictures, barked at a few cows and waved at some neighbors who were stuck going the other direction. Everyone was happy.

How many places can you live where you can experience these unexpected, cathartic delays?

Notice the flyfisherman in the last photo. It truly was a lovely day.

New in Ennis, MT

This winter marked the debut of Main Street Floral, a new florist shop in Ennis. It is a very cute shop and you can check out their info here.

A-27 Sportsmans Paradise

Bording a protected ranch to the south and having a small seasonal creek on the west boundary, this 24 acre lot is a great deal. It is the best priced lot in the area and one of the larger lots. It has 360 degree views of the great mountains that surround it and it is close to power. There are covenants in the area, yet you can still park an RV on your lot and there is no time limit for building. Covenants allow for small square footage cabins.

If you like the outdoors, this lot is for you. It is near many trail heads and only a mile to the forest due west. Hebgan, Cliff and Wade Lakes are within 20 minutes and fishing on the Madison River within 10 minutes. Henry's Lake is just up the road in Idaho.

Beyond that, it is only half an hour to Yellowstone National Park and West Yellowstone or heading north, Ennis, Montana. Asking price is $109,000.

Email me for me for more info: dmyrvik@montana.net
or check out the website for more pictures. Please make comments below in the space for comments as I would love to hear what you have to say.

Breaking News Explosion on Main St, Bozeman

There was an explosion this morning in Boodles on Main St in Bozeman. There is a news report at this link. This is just happening and we hope that there are no injuries. Our good friend owns the Montana Trails Gallery which was totally destroyed and is to the right of Boodles in this picture.

Elk in McAllister

The elk are on the move!

I was driving home from work last week and it was the most beautiful evening. I noticed a man standing in the ditch, but being so practical...I thought that he had a plugged culvert that he was looking at unplugging. Then a jackrabbit ran right across the road and in front of the man. I was thinking that was strange, but still continued driving and soaking in the evening glow. Suddenly, I looked to my right and this large herd of bulls and cows (elk) were in the cow pasture. It was quite a sight and I wish that I had a bigger zoom lense, but I captured this sight.

The cows and horses in the field didn't know what to think, and I don't think the elk did either. They didn't know where to go. And, by the next morning they were gone. I was greatful for the opportunity to end my day with their graceful presence.
