South Baldy in the Tobacco Roots

I hiked up to South Baldy in the Tobacco Root Mountains on Sunday.  It was a beautiful day and I got to spend it with a good friend who lives far away! 

Ironically the New York Times posted an article titled Your Brain on Computers.  It talked about how computers and technology  wire our brains and how being out in nature helps us unwind and destress.  The hike was very relaxing and we didn't look at our phones once!

As we were hiking up we came to the Missouri Mines.  It was amazing what they built up there to process the the tailings and find gold.  As we gained elevation we found more mining "encampments".   There are many cabins in various states of decay.  It looks like housing for the miners and buildings for equipment for the mines in the upper South Meadow Creek area.  .....Fascinating.

It was very relaxing and we were very happy after our afternoon exploring.
