It has been a good week with a few friends and clients checking in. One of my clients got me all excited about SKYPE. It is an internet based phone call software that you can phone people for free and even use your computer's camera and see each other. (Oprah uses it all the time on her tv show!). I am not providing a very good description of the service, but it is very easy to download and use. You can see more about it at http://www.skype.com/useskype/.
I was nearly as excited as Bill, my skype "teacher" when I was able to complete a crisp, clear call to him from my computer! I could see him on my screen as I was talking. It was great, but he couldn't see me. So, I embarked upon hours of troubleshooting with Sony to discover the problem. No luck, my camera is not working. I think it may due to an accident my computer got into last year....a very long, but amusing story I can tell you sometime. Anyway, I am looking at wiping my hard drive clean and starting over..... All for Skype. I know it probably seems a little silly to put so much time into a seeming frivolous thing, but who knows, maybe one of you will want to chat face to face over the internet.
