Brookside at Pony, MT
Brookside |
Situated on the outskirts of Pony, MT |
An Amazing Estate with Historical Relevance |
North Willow Creek in your back yard |
Brookside
Pony, Montana
Transport yourself back in time to the year 1902, the heyday of this property. Pony, MT was a lively mining town with more electric lights per capita than New York City! Spirits were high and opportunity abounded. This home epitomized Montana luxury in the old west and in mining country. The estate consists of the original log structure, a wood sided home to which was added a stately brick home with original furnishings, a classic red barn and a gardeners shed nestled on the banks of North Willow Creek.
Mining magnate W.W. Morris moved from Virginia City, MT to a small log cabin on the banks of North Willow Creek in the late 1800's. As time passed and his family and wealth grew, he continued to add to the property. It has been said that he was able to go to sleep at night listening to the sound of his nearby stamp mill working the ore from his mine. Mr. Morris was also involved in Montana politics and had owned several businesses in Montana. Montana was still a young state at this time; gold had only been found in Virginia City in 1863.
After W.W. Morris' unexpected passing while evaluating a mine for sale in Nevada, the family continued to inhabit the property. By the 1930's the stately home was not being occupied and the family boarded it up, with all the contents inside, and it was ignored until the 1970's. Descendants of the Morris family and parents of the current owners came back to the property and found that it was an amazing time capsule, full of their family's history and belongings. They revitalized it and used it as a summer home and hosted many a party in the ballroom and in the back yard on the creek.
This amazing property is one of a kind. Your heart will be touched by the intimacy you have with the history. Your senses will be delighted by the setting. It is a rare chance to connect with the past.

New Main Street Office
I am so happy to be sitting in my new PureWest Office on Main St in Ennis! We are at 222 E Main Suite 1A in the Lone Elk Mall.
We had a great year in 2011 and now will have a greater presence in town with the addition of this new space.
As you can tell, we have some more organizing and decorating to do, but that is going fast! I will keep you posted as to when the Grand Opening will be.
Be sure to stop by and say "Hi" when you are in town!

Sunday July Morning in the Mountains
Another Sunday has arrived. It seems the weeks are flying by and I have to ask myself what day it is every morning that I awake. This morning started off with a flurry. Chris was off early to show a large property and I stepped outside to wave good bye and was met with the most beautiful, peaceful morning. The air was warm and still and the birds were singing and somewhere our chipmunk family was making a racket.
You have to treasure these moments. It seems that they are squeezed in between the demands of work and daily concerns. Taking time to acknowledge our surroundings does refresh and illuminate the soul. I am so lucky to live where I live!
Real estate has suddenly turned a corner and we are very busy. There has been an uptick of showings and interest and it is great to be running from place to place. I think that the Madison River clearing has brought everyone out. I do hear the fishing is good!
Another different trend this year is the fact that I am still getting new listings! Usually, the new listing season is January through May. But I have two new listings this week! More on those later. I am also seeing price reductions as sellers are trying to make their property stand out and sell. It is a good time to be a buyer.
I am off to photograph 20 acres near the Jack Creek drainage and bordering a large ranch....should be an amazing view!
